Birdwatching tours

The 2010 Australian Birdfair birdwatching tours are being conducted by TEMP Tours, in conjunction with the Fivebough and Tuckerbil Wetlands Trust.

Numbers for each tour will be limited, and payment of tour must be made at time of booking.

  1. Woodlands tour to Binya State Forrest – Painted Honeyeater, and White-browed Treecreeper. Painted Honeyeater

    Date:  Saturday 18th September 2010
    Starting time: 6:00 am
    Return time: ~ 11:00 am
    Cost: $90 pp (includes travel, morning tea and tour guide)
    Bring: Hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, long trousers and closed in shoes, water and bird watching equipment. The tour will depart from the Leeton Visitor Information Centre at 6:00 am accompanied by tour leader, travelling to Binya State Forest. The tour group will arrive at approximately 7 am at the State Forest and visit key bird watching sites within the forest. Participants must be prepared to walk, easy to moderate walk of medium distances. The tour is expected to return to Leeton around 11:00 – 11:30 am.
  2. Grasslands tour to Oolambeyan National Park – Plains-wanderer tour.

    Sunday 19th November 2010                                                                                                                                               Starting time: 3pm                                                                                                                                                                            Return time: ~ 12.30 am
    Cost: $160 pp (includes travel, dinner and organised tour)
    Bring: Hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, water, long trousers and closed in shoes and bird watching equipment. The tour will depart from the Leeton Visitor Information Centre at TBC accompanied by a tour guide and travel to Oolambeyan National Park. The tour group will arrive at approximately 6.30 pm at Oolambeyan and be met by DECC and NPWS representatives followed by general bird watching and an opportunity to take in a tour of the Homestead. Tour cost includes a BBQ dinner and general discussion and networking, with the night Plains Wanderer tour (conducted by DECC and NPWS representatives) commencing around 8 – 8.30 pm, on foot with an anticipated duration of ~ 2 hours, returning to Leeton around 11:30 pm – 12:30 am.  Considerable part of this tour involves walking, at night, in grasslands so an adequate level of mobility and fitness is required.
  3. Wetlands tour to Fivebough – Australasian and Little Bitterns.Leader:  Sean Dooley - “Comedy in the Cumbungi”

    Cost: $35.00 pp
    Bring: Hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, long trousers and closed in shoes, water and bird watching equipment
    Due to popular demand, Sean has agreed to conduct the Comedy in the Cumbungi tour again.   Participants are provided with a comic look at bird watching from the eyes of an avid birdwatcher and comedian.
